Terms of Service
Last updated: June 2026
These Terms govern your use of the BLUR app and this website ("BLUR", "we", "us"). By downloading or using BLUR, you agree to them. If you don't agree, don't use BLUR.
Most important thing first. BLUR is a fun self-control tool, not a safety device, medical device, or babysitter. It does not guarantee that any app, person, or action is blocked, and it is not a substitute for sober judgment, a designated friend, or the emergency services. In an emergency, always call your local emergency number (911, 999, 112). Never rely on BLUR for your safety — please drink responsibly and look after each other.
1. Who can use BLUR
BLUR is for adults aged 18 or older. By using it you confirm you meet that age and can form a binding agreement.
2. What BLUR does
BLUR uses Apple's Screen Time / Family Controls to help you limit chosen apps during a night out, sets optional "gauntlet" challenges to unlock early, and produces a morning "Blurred" recap. We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to use BLUR for your own non-commercial use.
3. Subscriptions, Night Pass & payments
- BLUR+ is an auto-renewing subscription. The Night Pass is a one-time purchase for a single night.
- Purchases are billed through your Apple App Store account. Subscriptions renew automatically unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the end of the current period.
- Manage or cancel any time in App Store → your account → Subscriptions. Deleting the app does not cancel a subscription.
- Any free trial converts to a paid subscription unless cancelled before it ends. Unused trial time is forfeited if you subscribe.
- Prices may change with notice. Refunds are handled by Apple under the App Store terms.
4. Acceptable use
Don't misuse BLUR: no reverse-engineering, no interfering with the service, no using it to harm or restrict anyone other than yourself, and nothing illegal.
5. No guarantee of blocking
BLUR depends on Apple frameworks and your device working as intended. Operating-system limits, your own settings, restarts, or other apps may affect what's blocked and when. We don't promise BLUR will block any particular app or content, or that it will be uninterrupted or error-free. An emergency exit is always available so you can reach your phone when you need it.
6. Health & safety
BLUR is not medical, health, or safety advice and is not designed to manage alcohol use, addiction, or any medical condition. If you're worried about drinking or your wellbeing, talk to a qualified professional.
7. Disclaimers
BLUR is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose, merchantability, and non-infringement, to the fullest extent permitted by law.
8. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, BLUR and its creator are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages, or for any loss arising from your use of (or inability to use) BLUR — including anything you did, sent, missed, or didn't block during a night out. Where liability can't be excluded, it is limited to the amount you paid for BLUR in the prior 12 months.
9. Changes & termination
We may update BLUR or these Terms. Material changes will be reflected by the date above or an in-app notice. We may suspend or end the service, and you can stop using BLUR at any time by deleting it.
10. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the creator's jurisdiction, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. (Set your specific jurisdiction before launch.)
